Another day that we have woken up to in this beautiful place of Honduras. God’s work is all around us in many ways.

We started off our day with a celebration with the children of El Obraje. In celebration of their freedom and how much they love their country. Seeing the young children so excited to show us what they are proud of is truly something indescribable. Almost as indescribable as the way you feel walking into a room of complete strangers that love you because you are here. The children definitely showed us this today.

Our next adventure was visiting children from the village of Las Minas. Teaching them the game of volleyball and basketball. Most of these children have never seen a basketball or volleyball before, let alone get to enjoy the game together. The people of Las Minas were so grateful for our time today.

Caring on with our day we got the opportunity to return to El Obraje and hangout/ play volleyball and basketball with the sixth graders. Nothing is more exciting than being able to see the looks on their faces while learning these sports and playing them together. I myself got the opportunity to play soccer with a group of boys in the community. Even though my soccer skills are not comparable to theirs the way they accepted me and let me join their game was so welcoming.  Welcoming is one of the many things the people of El Obraje teach us.

To finish off our day we got the opportunity to eat dinner with the construction workers that we have been accompanied by these past couple of days. Hearing the stories of these amazing men is eye opening. Many of us can say we are truly blessed with the opportunity to be with the people of El Obraje and build relationships with. I want to end with a quote that would fit our experiences today. “Perhaps you are here, not only to be a Christian presence to others, but also that these people can be a Christian presence to you.”
