Our journey stumbled out of the gate; rather, at the gate at Kansas City International Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, our team of Barbara (team leader), Bob and Jan discovered that the flight had an announced delay of four hours due to mechanical problems. We had arrived at noon for the 2:15 scheduled flight. With the delayed departure, we knew that we would not make our connecting flight to Johannesburg that evening.
We departed Kansas City at 6:30pm and arrived in Atlanta at 9:15pm. We met up with Synda Burton, the fourth member of the Resurrection team who had arrived from Indianapolis. We checked into a hotel for the night and had no early wake-up call as we had been re-booked onto a flight to Johannesburg that did not leave until 7:15pm Saturday.
