Our team arrived safely in Omaha this morning. We have 11 youth and 11 adults on this family serve team.
Today we served at Heart Ministry Center. We were so impressed with the agency and the staff. It is a choice food pantry as well as a job training site and place where people can obtain clothing as well as medical and dental care. There are several social workers on staff who help with case management for the folks using the assistance. Our team helped sort donations and food, we weeded in the garden outside the facility that provides some fresh produce, cleaned the pantry and shelving, and packed school supply kits and other pantry items for takeaways for the families and others using the facility. Everyone put in a lot of hard work and we had terrific staff helping guide us as to what is most helpful to them. We hope what little we were able to do today will be a blessing to those who use Heart Ministry Center. Please keep their clients and their staff in your prayers.
Tonight we cooked a meal together here at the church where we are staying, Trinity United Methodist, and are preparing for a big day tomorrow were we will serve in 2 different places. Stay tuned!
