Reflexiones de Santiago: Day Two, Great is Thy Faithfulness
Today, Sunday, we volunteers set up the clinic in El Obraje, Honduras, where we will provide desperately needed medical and dental attention to hundreds of children and adults. Our leader, Jim,  started our week-long efforts by quoting a wonderful bible verse from Lamentations 3:22-23: “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new each morning. Great is your faithfulness.”

It is easy to see how faithful God is while we are driving up a beautiful mountainside in Honduras on the way to the Church. Watching those children singing songs and dancing during the Church service was a wonderful treat. After Church, twelve dedicated volunteers pitched in stringing up makeshift patient rooms and sorting twelve suitcases of prescription drugs purchased by the Church of the Resurrection, and, well, thinking about “Why we are here?”. It is pretty easy to understand this now. Each of the volunteers were faithful to God’s calling to come to Honduras, while God in all of his faithfulness blesses up again and again… new each morning!

Today, we were again blessed by the arrival of a large group of Translators eager to get started. Our first time together was during our daily devotional. All twelve volunteers gathered today to enjoy singing (with Kim Losik on the guitar) and to talk about “Who is my neighbor”.
Well, believe it or not, tonight, John Wesley was our neighbor and he actually joined us for our lively devotional. During our devotional, much to our surprise, Jon Bevan opened up a little present from home-base (Church of the Resurrection) and out popped a John Wesley Bobble Head. He didn’t say much but we were all glad to have him join us.
We are looking forward to a good night’s sleep and a BIG DAY tomorrow.
