Reflection

The opportunity to start our day a little later and enjoy a more relaxed schedule was appreciated by all of the mission team.  For those of us who drink it, coffee was ready before breakfast and eagerly consumed.

Today was a more relaxed day allowing us to take in the a few sites of Tegucigalpa.  Our first stop was at the Basilica de Suyapa, one of only three basilicas in Central America. The large stained glass windows were very impressive.

Our journey continued to the new central mission house, currently under construction. Here we met Mario, the project manager, who gave the group a tour and explained the features of this new facility.  A mission team from Lawrence, KS arrived today and will begin work tomorrow at this location.

The day continued with lunch at a local restaurant on our way to Valley of the Angels, a peaceful location that has become popular with the Tegucigalpa residents and is now extending to tourists in Honduras. Many small vendors populate this area where Honduras souvenirs may be Valle de Angeles downtownpurchased. Of particular interest to our group were the leather shops where local craftsman displaced their goods. With purchased in hand, we headed back to Tegucigalpa and the mission house.

Upon arriving at the mission house almost everyone took time to rest. The only sounds were coming from Lisa, preparing for her big day and group session tomorrow.

A delicious dinner at Las Tajitas allowed time for fellowship and an opportunity to meet the families of the people who have supported us during this mission. Our trip has been a success because of their dedication. Thinking back on some our long days, many of these support members had even longer days.

After our evening devotion, we completed a few remaining tasks, then off to bed. A couple of diehards stayed up to play a few hands of cards with this blog post was being composed. Sunday will be a big day with our last trip to Cuidad Espana and worship with the many new friends we have made over the past week.

Today was also a day of reflection, thinking back on our time and mission here in Honduras. The success of our projects and training sessions has been a blessing God bestowed on each of us.
