It’s our final day of ministry with the people of Ciudad Espana, Honduras. We’re all physically exhausted but it’s all good! We have invested in the lives of some exceptional people from whom we have learned more than we have imparted to them.

The ride in the van from Christ Church of the Resurrection to the Mission House is about 45 minutes. As we make that ride, the conversation revolves around the people we have met. They are now our friends. Many names are mentioned, conversations related, and stories shared. It’s a joyous conversation. We are enriched by this week. We are changed and transformed by this week. We are energized by all that has happened this week!

Here are some photographs of team members with our new friends.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Children watch the artist paint the Christ Resurrection Church in Ciudad Espana, Honduras, replica of the stained glass window being constructed on the Leawood campus.

Our activities today follow much the same pattern as the previous ones. Sports camps for soccer (futbol) and basketball come to a conclusion with final skills being learned and scrimmages enjoyed. The enthusiasm and energy of the children continues throughout the week. Their abilities have been challenged and expanded.

Today in ELL, the students taught the classes. It’s called a “flipped classroom” where the students teach the teachers. They choose what they want to teach, plan how it will be presented, and make the entire process entertaining. The English speakers, members of our team, were challenged to speak more in Spanish. To those who have invested of their time in Ciudad Espana for more than this year, it was beyond their expectations. The seeds that have been planted here over the past several years, including this week, have definitely produced more English speakers among these special people. It was one of those “WOW” moments! To God be the glory.

We all are expecting a great day tomorrow as we worship with our Honduran friends,
