It’s a special day when 6 Resurrection mission trip members and 5 well-wishers all arrive at KCI at 4:30 am!

The bags were checked—all 18 of them (we were carrying some computers for the school in El Obraje) —and we left on time for Atlanta. After landing in Atlanta we quickly found our gate and thought “wow,we have time to get coffee”. Two of us guarded the bags and discovered they were already boarding our flight to Tegucigalpa.  YIKES!  Mary Beth put on her super leader cape and quickly corralled the group. Crisis averted.  In fact, most of us were even upgraded to better seats.

A great landing into Tegucigalpa was celebrated by everyone on board and we were ready to begin our adventures.

Step 1: Get through immigration. Sounds easy enough, but the handprint feature stumped most of us. Grins.
Step 2: Gather the baggage. Check.
Step3: Sandy arrives and we are set.
Step 4: Sandy introduces us to Charlie the Money Changer. 1 dollar = 23 Lempira. Question: Will we be teaching math to the students this week in terms of money exchange? We decided we were not ready for that!
Step 5: Drive to the Mission House with our driver, Danielle. An introduction to the driving style in Honduras and we felt lucky to not be driving. Mission accomplished—we arrived.
After a delicious lunch of enchiladas, we were ready to explore. Daniella (and her charming son Roberto) became our tour guides. A small point of reference: Roberto is one and was soon the favorite child of our group—especially Michael.
As we wound around and around the winding roads in the city, we arrived at the El Christo del Picacho National Park. Pictures tell the best story.

Our early busy day did us in. We almost fell asleep at the dinner table.
