Today was our second work day, and it was packed with fun and new experiences! We started the day early with a quick dance lesson with our crew before we headed up to the mountains for our day of painting. Our trip took a slight detour when one of our vehicles got a flat tire… This led to part of our team waiting as the drivers and others worked on getting it fixed. This repair drew an audience of a child and his goats, to which Sue remarked, “an attraction for kids with kids!” Sitting on the side of that road really gave us a feel for the daily trek Haitians take by foot or motorcycle to get up and down the mountain.

Our work at the church involved painting, painting, and more painting! We’re slowly learning that Haitian painting techniques work a lot better than our own. We had a fun little interlude to our day with some of the local Ravine Seche residents joining in on our fun dance!

After we got home and ate dinner, Scott and Caroline headed out to the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) office to drop off a copier donated by North Cross United Methodist Church and items sent by Resurrection members – it is very exciting to hear all the ways these will be beneficial to them! While there, our interpreter, Rodney, walked over to the local Methodist radio station, “Radio Methodiste D’Haiti 97.3”, and we met the manager and the radio host who will be covering the new church dedication in Ravine Seche on Thursday! We’re excited for what other surprises and blessings God has in store for us in Haiti.
