Our New York City trip has been a wonderful experience so far! We have been able to serve in many ways over the past week that assisted people from all over New York in various ways. One of the first places we were able to serve was at B’nai Jeshurun synagogue in the Upper West side of Manhattan, where we were able to feed the homeless, less fortunate, and build community with them. We were blessed to hear Mr. Dennis speak about his experience being homeless for 14 years and how he was able to turn his life back around.

The next day we were able to deliver food boxes for City Meals “Meals on Wheels”. We split up into 2 groups to deliver the 21 boxes. Then we headed over to Brooklyn to work on a garden in Red Hook Community Park. It’s pretty amazing to find a 3 acre community park that is built on concrete. Then, we went back B’ nai Jeshurun for their Shabbat service. The Shabbat service was all spoken in Hebrew but they had books that we could follow along with in English. Pretty cool to experience!!!

Our last day we were able to assist The Church of the Village in serving their weekly 200 to 300 guests that visit them every Saturday. The food they serve is not only healthy, but amazing!
