We started out our final full day in Haiti with a tour of the Methodist Guesthouse, school and church in Petionville. We were shocked by how large the school was – over 2,000 students! We had the opportunity to go inside the church this year, and the sacred space was awe-inspiring.

From there, we headed along the coast up north to Cabaret, where a Compassion center is located. Resurrection members sponsor hundreds of children in this town. We had the privilege of being able to sit down with our compassion children, some of us for the first time, with the help of the interpreters! We even got to visit their homes and meet their families. It was moving and an experience we’ll never forget!

On our way back to Petionville we stopped to  see the memorial at the mass grave site from the 2010 earthquake. Over 150,000 people were buried there and it was very sobering to see.

During our devotion time this evening, Scott had us mention and lift up all those we had met and whose lives had touched ours this week. We ran out of room on the piece of paper he was using. It’s hard to express how much 7 short days in Haiti has impacted our group.
