He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

                        -Philippians 1:6

We began the day, visiting the ZOE (Zimbabwe Orphan Empowerment) office and speaking with their staff. Through their hard work, determination and a burning desire on the part of the orphans, as well as the generous support from Church of the Resurrection and others, hundreds of children are learning the skills needed to support themselves and their younger siblings.

We then boarded our bus (along with some of the ZOE team) and spent much of the day getting a firsthand look at what is possible for children, even in the face of unspeakable suffering and seemingly insurmountable odds.

In the late afternoon, we traveled to a remote village and were greeted warmly by its people. We talked one-on-one with women and men who have participated in Phase II of our Economic Empowerment Initiative, learning from them what aspects of the initiative has been most helpful, and how the program can be improved.  We arrived back at our lodging in time for our meal, then took part in our daily devotion. Afterward, we stood gazing at a magnificent moon, and sang the “Our Father” before saying goodnight.
